We made a journey through the year
Twenty-seven times.
We found the grade, both up and down,
Rewarding and sublime.
We've had our tears, but laughter too,
As we went our destined way,
We've shared both the thick and thin
Found something new each day.
We sought again the right path
When we went astray.
Each time a little wiser
For having lost our way.
At times you were the one up front
And other times 'twas I,
Who went ahead to move the stone
Which in the pathway lie.
If I can but look ahead
To future trips with you
To follow that elusive trail
That will take us through.
Deep green valleys, up mountain peaks,
And by the ocean shore.
I'll find each year a better one
Than the year before.
Life rewards not where you've been
Or what has been your pride,
But rather what you see and do
And who is by your side.
